Make sure the saddle bags aren't resting on the seat mounts. Try a little wd-40 on the saddle bags. I know it's tight, but if you put a lot of pressure on the seat it will fit. Try bending the seat so you can get the front and middle started. Then slam down on the rear of the seat and push forward at the same time.

I own a 95 VLX with large throw-overs. My wife made a cut-out in the saddle bag yoke to accomodate the seat. If you can contact me I am willing to share details and photos of the bike and bags.

I thought you just sat on throw-over saddlebags? Then put them over your shoulder when you leave?
