Obviously she can act. She had her own TV show, started in lots of movies. It she is such a bad actor, why does she keep getting jobs in the career. And for those who say Jessica Simpson, Hilary Duff, Rihanna, and Ashlee Simpson can't sing; first, anyone who can talk has the ability to sing. Secondly, they have a contract so they must have some talent. Duh! And, third lets see you do better. Paris Hilton, on the other hand, does have a nice voice. But she has a tiny singing range.

Conversely, there are a lot of people who CAN sing & act, but don't have a contract. Why - they're not rich, beautiful, & have a family name as an in.

It's not always about talent. Like some singers don't really have very good vocals they are good performers. Just because you get a contract doesn't mean you can sing it means that you are marketable. They can do a lot of things in a studio. The same with actors. They aren't really the BEST at acting but people like them. So they will keep putting them in movies as long as people will keep paying to go see their shows.

Just because someone has a contract with an acting or singing studio DOES NOT mean that they actually possess talent; it's based on whether they can sell that performance and make people money. Fortunatley, there are still a few good performers out there that actually possess talent and aren't out there solely for the money and the magazine shoots.

i think they mean someone cant sing "well". anyone with a voice can sing, but a lot of ppl sound poor, or cant sing in key.
there are dozens of ppl that arent good singers that have contracts, it has more to do with marketability than talent. just ask any record exec, they'll tell you right away that its a money making thing, not a music thing.
case in point - motley crue was signed before the singer knew how to sing in front of ppl, and the bass player didnt know how to play bass.
milli vanilli couldnt sing at all, it wasnt even their voices. it was someone else entirely, but the milli vanilli guys had the right look at the time.
most of today's artists in pop music need to have their voices digitally enhanced to stay the correct pitch, this is very apparent in the "boy band" realm, and the "pop tarts".
and to top it all off, i have a studio, and i've recorded a lot of ppl that have come in and recorded poorly since they cant sing, and then had me cover it up with effects and digital enhancers. i hate to do it, but its the way they want it, and if i want to get paid, i need to do it that way.

Hilary Duff can't sing. or maybe i ate her cause she's dating Joel Madden.
but Paris Hilton can sing, but she still suck like-wise.

Because these people can't act and can't hold a tune. They are usually just jealous they usually think they are capable of saying who can and can't in any profession.

there's this thing called a casting couch and the things that happen on this casting couch may lead to a job for that actress depending on how well she does on her "private audtion"
