A poor country that was part of the Soviet eastern block that was ravaged by the communist system, tons of pollution, poor living conditions, even a bar of soap was a significant treat. Orphanages full of malnurished and mistreat kids. That was then.
Good hard working people that appreciate the opportunity to better themselves by their own labors. Long history with lots of invaders from the west and east.
