It is long (1000 double spaced pages) and I would like to find something that would format it for double sided printing, four pages per sheet. It's in Microsoft word right now. I'd like to make a few copies and see what it looks like.

What you need is desktop publishing software. Quark Express is the industry standard, but its expensive. Adobe Page Maker is also good, but, again is expensive. There are cheaper alternatives out there. Do a web search on desktop publishing - you might even find something you can download for free.
