I think we're seeing the decline of original music and being forced to hear with "companies" want us to hear...for one thing...money! As long as they make a buck by pushing this crap down the public's throat and the public is willing to jump on every little piece of crap they throw at us. Then...they don't care about the music...as long as it sells!
I saw a music awards show one time...and the only people that actually played instruments on that show was "Jet". The rest of the show was just booty bouncing and people cussing.
Welcome to the degradation of music.

The mainstream scene today is mostly crap... I mean rap. And it's promoting the wrong stuff. The record labels don't care that they are promoting the wrong stuff because they make money this way. And a lot of rock bands that are hitting mainstream now are crappy pop/punk/emo bands that don't know anything about music theory and are probably still using tabs.
You can't bash Green Day. They've been around since the early 90's and their music hasn't changed. What you hear now is exactly the same as it was when they first came out. Simple 1-4-5 power chord progressions. System of a Down definitely have talent. It's mostly about their lyrics though. The rock bands that collaborate with the rap artists are the ones that have gone to ****. I can still remember the old Korn how awesome it sounded.
Also you have to look at this from our own perspective. As humans who listen to music we want change. But when we hear change we don't always like it. But I think it's necessary for the survival of the band. If I kept hearing Thrice put out the same stuff then I wouldn't like them anymore. But their latest album Vheissu definitely showed a different side to them.
And don't even get me started on the Teeny Bopper stuff. Their basically finding the hottest girls and guys and turning them into novelty acts for the magazines and tv shows. They don't play or sing well but kids under the age of 16 fall into that trap where they see a beautiful girl and have to support what she does. It's stupid. You know how many people play acoustic and sing and actually have talent. Yet Cheyenne Kimball gets a record deal because she's a looker. And she's like 16 or 17 years old and their exploiting her.
You also have to look at the evolution of music. Say the band Linkin Park were in the Beatles place. And the Beatles were doing what Linkin Park does now... see. You can't judge a band because music has been around forever. Their are only a certain amount of things you can do before it starts to sound repetitive. Which is why you have to find the good ones. Those guys are usually underground and don't care about making the big money.
I think I'm done here... I'm starting to ramble... AS I LAY DYING IS HORRIBLE I DON'T KNOW WHY PEOPLE LIKE THAT SHIZ!!! It's like their promoting their religion saying their a christian hardcore band. So their fans will want to be christian and then their are more christian folk to terrorize the world. ARGHGRHGRHG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

With every day pass, our country is getting into more and more trouble. The inflation, unemployment and falling value of dollar are the main concern for our Government but authorities are just sleeping, they don’t want to face the fact. Media is also involve in it, they are force to stop showing the real economic situation to the people. I start getting more concern about my future as well as my family after watching the response of our Government for the people that affected by hurricane Katrina.
According to recent studies made by World Bank, the coming crisis will be far worse than initially predicted. So if you're already preparing for the crisis (or haven't started yet) make sure you watch this video at http://www.familysurvival.tv and discover the 4 BIG issues you'll have to deal with when the crisis hits, and how to solve them fast (before the disaster strikes your town!) without spending $1,000s on overrated items and useless survival books.

Maybe you need to relax and quietly listen to artists so you can appreciate them. I agree with the whole you can dance and aren't fat so they make a singer with a hell of a lot work done in the studio, god forbid you should hear them live. I consider music good if it touches me in someway....whether its metallica making me want to dance, or limp bizkit knowing when I wanna break stuff. I then look at whether or not they sound the same live as they do on the cd.....those are artists not just studio musicians. I think there are a lot of good ones out there, many not discovered yet. Besides, a lot of the great ones from the past are still out there....

There are plenty of great bands, it all comes down to taste. Personally I like Green Day. But what about the Manics, Delays, The Killers, Kaiser Chiefs, Christine Young, Captain, Razorlight, Feeder, Nightmare of You, an etc.etc.? Failing all those, Morrissey is still touring. You can't beat a good bit of Moz.

Agreed. There is no talent in any of these "bands" that perform anymore. If you go to see these people live, you will see how much they all suck at what the attempt to do. Real musicians hardly even exist anymore. If anyone wants to hear what a real musician sounds like, pick up some old big band albums, or go for some bands like Dreamtheatre. Whether you like their style or not, you will be listening to real musicians with real talent.

this may be why i don't watch that much tv. not in a few years. the buggles are right though, video did kill the radio star. like u said it's about looks now, not talent. there are some good bands out there today, but i had no idea what most of them looked like when i went to a rock festival. i had to have people tell me who i was looking at, unless they were playing...then i knew!!

Wow, you have a lot of animosity towrads todays music. Are you a washed up musician who had a crap band that couldn't make it and is now jealous of everyone who has?
Open you ears, eyes, and mind to it. Find it on other things than MTV, how about FUSE, IMF, the damn radio?

MTV is about to ruin the music scene for good.
Check out the indie bands. They deserve much more credit than the exposure those mainstream bands are getting.

You hear to in spite of you want to hearken to. If a woman is quite "grew to become off" by making use of your track decision, noticeably while the track isn't approximately blood-sucking devil worshippers who rape women, then she has a concern together with her priorities. track tastes should not be a dealbreaker if the lady has actual emotions for you. Be your self, and you will entice a woman who's "herself" additionally, and loves you to your awesomeness, quirks, each and every thing, on account that makes you YOU, and you're particular. ;)
