I don't think anyone can. We can't see and test-drive what you would purchase.

Personally, I would not buy anything used from an individual. I would suggest running a search for refurbished laptops. Dell and HP sells them. At least you would have somewhere to go for help and hopefully a more trusted purchase.

There are typically three things that you are concerned about.
1. Battery Life / cost for new battery
2. Physical condition
This is important because if it is in good condition you know that is has been treated well and that there is a low chance that the laptop has possible defects in the internals.
3. Take it to a reputable technician and have him/her do all the harware tests on it that she/he knows. For emaple MemTest86, HDD utilities, CPU burn in, CPU Stress Test
Other than that make sure AC adapter is in good condition and that every key on the keyboard works, and ask if there is any warranty.

Never buy an used lap top. Its like driving with eyes closed. U know why.... If you have some one in the US now its the right time to buy computers at very low prices there.

well it sounds like you want to buy used laptop-- NEVER buy used one. if you will need to do repair on it it will cost you more then the cost of new laptop.

- Logon and see the system details (whether they are up to mark.. like processor, RAM, Harddisk, etc)
- Run Memory tests to check if the RAM, Motherboard are working fine..
