for every 4th power of 7, the last digit becomes a 1.
7^1=7 (last digit 7)
7^2=49 (last digit 9)
7^3=343 (last digit 3)
7^4= 2401 (last digit 1)

the pattern of the last digit will then follow: 7, 9, 3, 1 again.

therefore, since you want the power of 16, which is a multiple of 4, the last digit is a 1.
