When I am about to sign into my Yahoo email, a message comes up saying that I am on a secure connection, and that others cannot read what I am sending.
THEN I get a message saying I am about to leave a secure Internet connection, so others might be able to read what I send.

This happens when all I want to do is sign into my normal Yahoo email address.
Do the messages mean what they say? Can someone really read my email messages once I have signed into my email with my password, or is the computer being over-cautious?
I'd be grateful if someone could come up with some answers, because security is something I am very careful about.
Thanks in advance to anyone who knows what is going on. In the past I have always found someone to answer my questions. They are smart people, and helpful as well

Anytime you send anything over the internet, it has a chance of being intercepted and read by someone else (regardless of the "secure" warning). All you can do is be careful to not reveal personal information.

Hope this helps!

When you login, notice the padlock on the bottom right of the window, and the https instead of http in the address bar.

This indicates a secure sign-in. When you go to another page, Yahoo is warning you that you are leaving their secure site and you should exercise caution.

You should keep in mind that there are hackers out there -- some who just don't know what to do with themselves, and others who are looking for your personal information. For this reason, you should not put anything in an e-mail you don't want published -- unless you requested the site and the padlock and https are present.

Our e-mail is scanned (not read verbatim) for keywords. Example - ever buy something online then get half dozen catalogs for the same product a week later?

There is no over-caution regarding the internet. You just can't be too careful.

The secure connection message appears because the page where you sign in is secure (Your password cannot be read by someone else), and you 'leave the secure connection' when you leave the page. You'll see the same message when you input credit card details on the internet. No need to worry about your e-mails being read everyone gets this message.

that's because when you logging it goes to secure connection, once it authorized you it goes to less secure connection. you mail and communication is still secure. because you have already established connection with Yahoo.

you can pick up bugs in places that are not secure so it is good that they warn you.
