Yes, apparently so. They are replacing it with a credit line. According to the newspaper Lay Away is too expensive to operate. They will be able to reduce their number of employees by thousands.

This is true. I think it's because most people are opting to use credit and debit cards. I guess Lay-a-way just isn't what it used to be.
