A double-exposure camera trick allows Mary Pickford to play two roles in this 1920s classic. It was not unusual for a girl or young woman to play Little Lord Fauntleroy in many theatrical productions.

Aparantly the kiss-on-the-cheek cut took 15 hours to film and lasts 3 seconds on-screen due to the complexity of the multiple exposures. To ensure stability between takes, the camera was weighted down to the tune of about a ton.
