Do I have to play Warcraft One, Two and Three just to enjoy WoW without feeling guilty?

Question

I've been playing games for a while now, and all this time I can't seem to play a game without playing all the games before it. It just doesnt feel right! I've now decided to step into MMORPGs and my choices are: WoW, Everquest, and City of Heroes. But after realizing that warcraft is a series I'm wondering: Should i go through the trouble of seeking out One and Two (Three is fairly new) just to play the "Worlds Greatest MMORPG"?

I"ve been playing WoW for only about a couple of months and started with the 2nd one. I haven't even bought the 3rd one because this has been giving my roommate and I plenty of pleasure and fun. But do what you want to do. Regardless, it's a good game.

If you like RTS games, they're really good - and can give you a better insight into some of the history mentioned in WoW. The three of them (combined) cover about the 20 years (gametime) prior to WoW. W3 is the best at this, as it has the most current events, with stuff that directly impacts what goes on in WoW. However, they're not needed, and no need to feel guilty about playing it.

I just started playing WoW in the last 6 months. Id never played any of the pervious ones, but enjoy the game just as much. From what i was told, the first three arent like WoW at all.. and the way it was explained to me, is that it would help me understand some of the lore, but it wouldnt necessarily enhance my gameplay. Find a good mature guild, and Hopefully someone will be able to help you with anything you might have questions with! GL ^^

Don't feel guilty, they have little to do with WOW. Besides Blizzard doesn't need more of your money. LOL Just enjoy WOW, and you can buy the expansion that is coming out soon. ;o)
