It sounds like its just part of your computer's history. "cmd" will run Windows 2000/XP Command Prompt. If you are unfamiliar with the command prompt its basically a text based command window where you can obtain information and basically change the way your computer works. I wouldn't worry about it. You can download the Windows TweakUI program and one of the options will be to clear the run history on logon.

hey,

There are a few Reasons. Incase you dont know cmd.exe is a command prompt brings up a "Dos-Like" window, the first thing you should check is if you have an Anti-Virus Program Available, if you do verify that it is up to date, and running, you can try running AVG free, if you dont have one and dont want to pay for one. you can also find other Anti-Virus Software from the Web Address in my Sources, the Only other reason i can see is your windows is Corrupted, in which case you would have to Re-Install Your Operating System.

Is your command prompt opening or just the text "%systemroot%\system32\cmd.exe" appearing in the run menu? Also, are you opening the run menu or is it opening on its own?
