I am running Win98SE as my OS now and I want to upgrade to 2000...I have the 2000 disc to install it but I never did it myself before..my brother set up my puter with 98SE last year and I was there and watched him as he did it. now I think I am ready to install 2000 Pro if I can get some good help from the good Y A people out there in the "computers & internet" category. I just dont know if I have to save all my files from 98SE or do I delete everything and install 2000 and then start from scratch ???

With the computer on, insert the Windows 2000 Pro installation disk. The installer will auto load (if it doesn't go into "My Computer" and double click on the CD-ROM drive). From the installer click on the upgrade button. This will upgrade your computer to Windows 2000 Pro without destroying any personal files. This is not the preferred way to install Windows 2000 Pro because your system would be cleaner if you do a fresh install, but it will work just fine and is a comfortable upgrade. It's also safer to upgrade this way if you are not very familiar with computers...

put the cd restart the machine, and choose to boot from the cd.
and then follow the prompts, then choose to format, since i wouldnt advise install windows 2000 along side windows 9se.
