I do not know much about Kenya, but I have lived in Tanzania for a few years which serving with Peace Corps. The people who warn you about rape and losing your passport, etc, obviously haven't been to that part of the world.

Although I advocate Peace Corps and I know that its jobs are essential to the country, I would not recommend that for you unless your technological experience might match a job they have. The technology sector is relatively new, but the truly need people who know how to teach computer use and repair -- back to the basics. (In my village, I had to teach a few students and teachers how to turn a computer on and how to use a mouse, after they finished laughing at the name.) You could contact the Peace Corps and ask about that.

The legal background likely would not be of use to them, because their legal system is different. Things that Americans take for granted just aren't present there, and lawsuits are unheard of because "accidents just happen."

The medical profession: if you have experience as a medical professional, there are many many clinics and hospitals that would welcome your time and your help. Most of them will automatically assume that you are there as a volunteer, so you might find it difficult if you want a paying job there in the medical field. Many people go there on short mission leaves, and there are a few doctors who decide to go there for a life of service (with pay from America). To do this you must usually go through a missions organization in America, which will give you the security of health insurance and ready communication with emergency personnel from home.

I'd probably start to see if we have an embassy in that country. They could probably direct you to the ministry of health in country and see what opportunities there would be there. Your legal probably wouldn't be as valuable, as it's a different legal system. Technology is probably just budding, if there at all.

What you are asking about is likely to be very dangerous. There is an active slave trade in which jobs are promised overseas to young women. When they get to the foreign country, their passports are taken away and they are forced into prostitution or worse. Beware.
