This is Britain today. Once a country to be proud of, and as boys we did wrong, we may play knock down Ginger or try to get the pennies out of the slot machines, (got my fingers burnt at that) but we never damaged property, destroyed our towns with graffiti, chewing gum or even through litter about, let alone hurt anyone, we would not even ride our bikes if we hadn't got lights.
We had respect for other peoples things, and if we were cought doing wrong it was God help you. You weren't let of with a friendly warning, you were down the nick.
Today, it's wing mirrors, tomorrow aerials, and the next it maybe what those slime did. I wonder how many people of my age would go with an eye for an eye. Me for one. We got bashed at school if we did wrong, I spent more time outside the headmasters office than I did in class, unlike today when a teacher can't even tell a kid off.
I grew up as the war was ending and was I proud when I saw the Union Jack flying, and stood for the National Antham, serving my time at sea, and worked self employed around 14 hrs a day, not sat on the dole like these wan***s.
Today when I think of this great britain of ours I FEEL SICK and am ashamed of this country. As I watch all these young single mums pushing their prams barely out of nappies, I wonder how many of the little darlings will turn out like scum.
Sorry I got carried away

It's impossible to explain, some people are evil beyond belief and this world would be a better place without them. It's just fortunate that there are so many more people that could not contemplate such things let alone actually do them. Luckily these evil people are the minority, it just seems like it goes on alot because newspapers sell more stories if they are reporting on bad/horrible things rather then the nice things that are going on every single day around you.

Someone on Yahoo Answers just asked who the most evil person in the world is/was. Evil isn't relegated to just one individual, it can manifest itself in many. I don't quite understand why people do these things. I guess it makes them feel powerful, killing a poor innocent creature. Makes up for their own inadequacies, their own shortcomings. I really don't know. But as an animal lover, I weep when I hear of a cruelty performed on any critter. These little monsters will reap the whirlwind, soon I hope.

I really cannot answer that question because it's a mystery to me also. Some people are just mean spirited and evil. I cannot even watch the news any more because it is so disheartening and depressing for me. There's always something bad going on or that has already happened and there's no explanation for why people do the things that they do.

Thats sad;_;. Unfortunatly, the teens probly did it because they "had nothing better to do".Most of the teens I know would never harm an animal, even if it bit them. But there are some out there who start somethijng as a"joke" and take it too far. I hope when they get caught, they are made to do public service work with the Aspca, or travel with "animal cops" so they can "pay" (as if they can) for what they did.

i realise of course that not all kids are evil, delinquent rulebreakers who have no respect for anyone or in this case, anything. but children such as these sick little scumbags deserve to be taught a lesson. how can they be so incessantly sick and vile enough to harm an animal in this fashion? the dog didn't do anything to them, so why were they insane and disgusting enough to stoop as low as this? unfortunately, these days we are living in a society that is becoming more and more violent and less respectful and tolerant. those kids should be punished heavily and i don't mean a verbal warning and a mere slap on their wrists. plus, they should be banned for life from owning and purchasing animals and in going anywhere near them.

I don't understand it either. So much meanness in the news today. I really think it has always been around (even back in old roman times) but because of the media today you hear all about the bloody details. Guess you can't change city hall. Sure wish we could.

What's wrong is that criminal and civil laws have taken over where what used to happen was retribution by the people. Yes, it's good that we're not s'posed to go smash someone's head in for nicking our stereo, but it also means there's less in the way of deterrents towards behaviour that'd usually get people spliced by the outraged.

They have no fear of retribution. If they get caught, they are sent to a place where they are better fed than they are at home. For many,it's a badge of honour to do time in jail.I would make jails so horrific that they would be terrified to go there,to hell with their so-called human rights, they should be treated like the scum that they are.

Because children especially at a very young age are exposed to violence in movies, on TV, via the internet, so they are conditioned over time to think that violence is normal! Exsposure to violence produces violence. Both in a real and fantasy (media) sense.
I am not just talking about TV shows, but news violence, web-sites that are violent based, ability to enter into morges and view pictures of dead and murdered people, decaying bodies.
T.V programs, advanced technology, intense graphics, it appears so real.
The world is creating record numbers of " Socialpathic personalities"
I know what most people will say to this answer, ARRRRR!! blame T.V. blame the Media......well in a world that gets more violent and violent every generation. We know its the cause!
Exposure to domestic violence during childhood, tends to cause the males to be assultive to wifes and girlfriends as an adult, and the females to form relationships with males that are abusers.
So its a known fact that exposure to violence conditions a person to become violent. Cruelty to animals in children is the first signs of social- pathic personality disorders. A child has a difficult time forming a conscience that violent acts are wrong, and unable to feel remorse about comminting acts of violence.
I'm not saying that its just because of the amount of information, violent and death sceens that cause this. But its the main reason! Lack of early disiplanary consistancy and direction play a part too. Although our cities have gotten larger, family's are seclusive, barely know the parents of thier childs mates.Decrease of extended families, and watchful nieghboors is greater.
I remember when I was growing up, if one of our nieghboors witnessed a child getting into trouble, not only would you get a repremand from them, but also from your parents, three if Grandmother got to you first! It did not teach me violence to have my butt tanned, it taught me respect and fear of authority, some parents say I don't want my child to fear me, I want them to respect me.
Well my Grandmother said Bull! on that, I am your first authority, and I want you to fear authority! I want you fearful enough that your not going to go to jail, so if you first learn from me that a unpleasent result will happen if you feel your intitled enough to harm or molest others as a child, then you will respect authority as an adult.
I respected my Grandmother for that, as did my brothers and sister, as well has fifty nieghboor hood children, we also feared her enough not to molest other's in any mannor too!
My Mother and Grandmother both worked, and I grew up as a latch-key child, but we had 10 nieghboors watching out too.
The T.V. shows I watched where superficial, the old vampire and warewolf movies, and in the end the villian always died, where the worst visions of violence on T.V. The news showed bits from the Veit-Nam war, but I was never allowed to watch. My parents said we where to young to really understand the whole concept, and that when we where older we would learn about it.
We once instintively guarded children from horrid, evil and vilolent issues, even before T.V. there must be some reason this was done?
I say the answer to you questions is a result of to much imformation esp. of a violent nature prior to the age of 10 or 12! Its nolonger Saturday morning hit the animated cat over the head with a club cartoons. Its 24/7 of graphic information immunation from 200+ cable channels............billions of website.
I also limited what my children could watch, not to say that they didn't watch if they got a chance to. But that was few and far between. I also supported teachers and other parents, not very often did I believe or denie that one of my children had not been a little S*** if gotten the chance, and even if they had not been at that time, it assisted them in displaying appropreate behavior, anyway!
