get a job and pay for your own stuff. you're plan is about the laziest thing i have ever heard. so you think that you can just live off tax payers money while you finish school?! honey, between two jobs, i don't even have time to finish school, so why should i have to pay for to to finish. and their not just going to give you section 8.

Ugh, I am having the same issues. First off I've been on a waiting list for section 8 for a year and a half now! Second off, I've yet to find a nice location with a waiting list shorter than abouto 8 years, I don't plan on needing assistance that long. Talk to a caseworker in your area, hopefully they can help you out. I hope you have more luck than me!

I have 2 kids though, that makes a big difference. If you don't have children you should easily be able to afford your own place or use your college housing...otherwise deal with living at home for a few years.

Usually with section 8, you will not have a choice. Sometimes you will be luckily enough to find a rental that is sect. 8 approved, but more likely than not, human resources will let you know what is available and if you refuse, you are kicked off. The waiting list is very long.
And depending on where you live, you are required to have a job making a certain amount per month.

Just call your local human resource/welfare office and find out. You may not even qualify for assistance.

Section 8 is mainly for families, I don't know by your post if you have children. If you do then they might help. As far as the subburbs your probably out of luck. Most section 8 are in rural neighborhoods.

If your single with no children I'd look into a small apartment instead.

that is not going to happen. With section 8 you must have a child and or have a disabilty. And besides that the u could be on the waiting list for years. It is not a easy or quick process

You have to have children in order for section 8 to help you out. but listen, taxpayers don't want to pay your rent while you are in college, live in a dorm like everybody else do.

If you want to get out on your own..get a job. A single 17-18 year old with no responsibilities is not going to get assistance..that's pathetic. Live in a dorm..take out loans..and get a job...stop being lazy.

Let me get this straight. You want other taxpayers to pay your rent bill while you finish college and do your party stuff? Is that right??

GET A JOB and go to college, if you want your own place.

You can't be picky with section eight honey. It's more temporary. It won't be that bad if you make the best out of it.
