I've gone through this. Just call your bank and dispute the charge. They will do the work for you to get your money back. Usually 1-2 days.

hmmm, than you should have 2 different amounts on your statement? We went to the movies and payed 20 $ for the ticket with the bank card, used as credit, when we bought pop corn and drinks it was 20 $ again and the card would not work. The bank lady told me that is because you can not spend the exact same amount twice within a certain time span, this is to protect you from double charges. Talk to your bank about taking the second charge of.
btw, the girl at the fast food places is not at fault, the technics are

call the credit company, ask them AND then call the resturant where it happened. hope you remember names and faces.
show them the statement.
and if the person who was involved with the transaction is there have them present.
they should correct the charges, and your credit card company should get the notice and then drop the charges by the next statement.
first call the credit company on how to proceed with this just in case they have a special program on errors such as this.
IF it's ATM talk to the bank that issued it to you. do the same thing, ask them what you should do, how to handle it and then go on from there.
this happens often enough that they'll know it's legit.
what happened was the person who swiped the card for the transaction at the resturant didn't cancel the prior tab. this person obviously doesn't know how to use the card modules.

If you can get the bank to take care of it then do it that way so that they will make these fast food places take more care with the cards. It's kind of crazy how less and less people check ID or even require pin #'s when they process your card.
Someone could get away with using a stolen card like that or she could have used your card to pay for someone elses food right in front of you and you wouldn't have even known.

Go back to the place and demand to talk to the manager and tell him to take the second charge off. No way should you pay for something twice for no reason other than an employee error.

Any manager with integrity will respect the wishes of its cutomers when the establishment is at fault. Don't let them run you over like some road kill. Get on you feet and kick some A_S. If not, it'll be my pleasure to represent.
(But seeing this is internet, this is really impossible since you probably live hundreds of miles away)

you don't have to get pissed about it...it was just a mistake. i'm sure that if you talk to someone at the restaurant, they will take it off or somehow make it up to you. sometimes the machine says that it isn't working, too. i mean...i'm sure the person knew how to run a credit card through

Talk to your bank about it. They should realize it was an error.
