Just watched Mickey Mouse Clubhouse with my son and want to know why poor Pluto is treated like a dog. We have talking mice, talking ducks, another dog that can talk....so what's the deal?

Walt disney designed many characters such as mickey...goofy...donald etc. But he created pluto such that it would not talk because he was allergic to mice (can u believe)... the only enemy to mice were cats...but dogs attack cats....so dogs are friends of mice....Walt disney wanted to take revenge on dogs. So he created a dumb dog in his series of cartoons. Hope you got your information.

Well, it's clear that Mickey has been abusing him, the way he leads Pluto around on a leash. It's a very sick and bizarre master-slave bondage setup, and no doubt by this time it has been going on for so many years that poor Pluto thinks of himself as a pet, though he ought to be allowed to live his own life the way Goofy does. Probably Mickey kidnapped Pluto, and held him captive somewhere for many years, to break him down and reduce him to that condition. Mickey and Minnie probably make Pluto do some kind of kinky stuff on command when they are 'alone together'.

But the strangest thing is why Goofy and Donald and all the others accept this! I don't understand why nobody else objects to this horrid state of affairs! In the final analysis, have they no shame? Have they no decency?

It must be that all the others have their own perversions and selfish idiosyncracies, enough to make what Mickey does seem accceptable and tolerable, if nor outright normal.

We see Donald going 'commando' in public; though at least he does have the dignity to wrap a towel around himself when he emerges from the shower (so you can't see the status of his privates after he's been 'cleaning' them). And his uncle is a prime example of greed and hedonistic worship of money. Snow White was living with seven men and taking turns sleeping in each of their beds! You couldn't put such a thing on prime time!

I don't see why they continue to portray such characters.

Pluto is Mickey's pet, so he walks on all fours and acts like a pet dog.

The characters that talk all mostly walk upright.

That is the way Uncle Walt decided to have Pluto drawn. You should not expect too much logic from a cartoon series.

Betty Boop started as a doglike critter, but morphed into a sexy chick, for example. She had lots more fans that way, but then she got a dog, who stayed a dog. Maybe that was on Uncle Walt's mind when he created Pluto as a dog. Or maybe not.

Goofy is an anthropomorphic dog (which means a dog who has human qualities or features.) Whilst Pluto is the only animal in walt disney which doesnt talk. I think this is due to that he already have something strange that we can speak of( he is yellow ) but all the others characters are realistic ( in the domain of the colour) so the strange thing about them is the talking part. Good question.

Pluto is yellow . have u ever seen a yellow dog out there in the real world ???
the point is that Pluto can t talk because he already have something strange that we can speak of ( he is yellow ) but all the others characters are realistic ( in the domain of the color) so the strange thing about them is the talking part.
i hope that my theory will guide u to the light where the truth about Pluto hides.
don t ask me why Pluto is the only one who has four legs cause i ll have to get all creative again and i have no idea from where to start and where to end .

Pluto was designed to be Mickey's pet. But he was also in many instances the comic relief. Watch some more.

Cartoons that were made in that era were designed for entertainment. Before we as a society decided it had to mean something.

But that we could find more geniuses like Walt Disney now -- maybe then we could quit being subjected to this lame crap they call cartoons now.

That is so true! While Pluto is a dog that is fed dog food all his life and sleeps in a kennel, Goofy (who is also a dog) gets to drive a car and play golf with Mickey. That is so unfair!

Pluto is a pet while all the other "animals" act as humans.
