An ounce is a different thing from a fluid ounce. An ounce (1 oz) is 1/16 of a pound, or 28.3 g; it can't be compared to liters or milliliters. A fluid ounce (1 fl oz) is 1/128 of a gallon, or 29.6 ml; it can't be compared to a gram.
