Red dresses are tricky, since they are so attention-getting themselves! Here are a couple options:

You can wear a red lipstick that matches the dress. If you do this, go VERY easy on the eye makeup...just a little pearly-beige shadow all over your lids (like MAC Shroom) a THIN line of black or dark brown liner just at the base of your lashes, and black mascara.

If a lipstick that matches the dress doesn't look very good on you, then I would play up your eyes (use a dark brown shadow or a little heavier liner winged up at the ends) and either use a nude gloss (MAC C-Thru is great) or a clear plumping gloss (like DuWop Lip Venom). You can line your lips with a color that matches your lips if you like. Any other color of lipstick is going to clash with your dress.

If you have a porcelain complexion, you can a use a very light gray almost white shadow on your eyes. Make sure to blend, this way it appears that you really don't have anything on your lid. After the eyeshadow is applied, you can use either a black or a dark brown or grey eyeliner. Line your upper lid with it and you can smudge it to make it a smoky effect or you can leave it alone. Put on your black mascara. Use a pale pink blush. Have your lipstick match the color of your dress or you can go a little deeper. If not put the lipstick on and then blot it and put clear lipgloss on and then you are set.

Red is a difficult color to wear as it can wash out your skin. Use bronzer on your face, shoulders and chest area to avoid this. As for eyes, I would keep it neutral (the dress color should be drawing the attention) with a shimmery taupe or pale pink and a bronze or brown liner. For lips I would use a nude colored liner and a clear or peach gloss over it.

With a red dress I would probably used either a brown, gold, gray/silver with darker on the edges of the eyes. It also depends on what color eyes you have. Just make sure you don't wear anything too bright.

Whatever you do no red eyeshadow are any red tints. Depending on your jewelry you should do a nice bronzey color, under toned with a stronger gold. Wear simple gold jewelery

Stick with a sheer natural look. And if you want, swipe on some red lipstick to make your lips pop.

I'd prefer light pink or gold. Pink makes you cuter and gold more sexy:)
