The lower back is tough to pop without hurting yourself. The best way I have found is a yoga stretch that involves laying on your back, with your arms spread out. Lift your left leg, bend it and by twisting your hips bring it down as close to touching the floor by your right leg as you can. Then do the same with the opposite leg. My lower back pops just about every time. There is a picture of this pose on this website:http://www.yogacards.com/Yoga_poses/Yoga_poses_Sct_a2.html
it is the 9th picture down.

Cracking your back?
Sounds dangerous.
Here is a method a chiropractor showed me to relax the spine and even adjust vertebrae if necessary. Hard to describe, I will try:
Lie on your belly. Relax. Have someone place both hands on the end of your spine over your clothing and wiggle the area sideways (from your right to your left and back in a relatively fast rhythm). About 30 times within 10 seconds to give you an idea. May be for a minute or so. Then have that person feel the vertebrae of your spine a bit higher up and use his or her three first fingers of both hands, held close together, to feel and wiggle your vertebrae gently, also in the same rhythm for a minute or so. Then the fingers of the hand which is closer to your head move up along your spine, a bit, and the fingers of the other hand move next to about where the "upper" had been before. The fingers wiggle again. Etc. until the upper neck is reached. Then the hands sweep along the spine from the bottom up over the head, without touching anything, shaking off the energy. About three times. The result may be remarkable.
Happy backing!

Lay on your back either on the sofa or bed. Bring your leg opposite the edge over the other leg and let it hang over the edge. This means you have to be high enough off the ground so your leg doesn't touch the ground (You may need to add some extra pillows to raise you up high enough). Let the leg hang in the air for as long as you are comfortable doing it. Keep your shoulders flat on the bed/sofa while doing it. If your husband is there, have him massage your lower back at the same time as you are letting your leg hang. Shift position and repeat on the other leg. This is a safe and gentle form of manipulation.

I use to ask my hubby to crack my back nearly everyday....definitely I can feel better. It only takes him 2 mins to do it.
It is exactly what Miler has just mentioned.
....Have him stand behind you. I use to put my hands across my neck (instead of crossing your arms over your chest - as mentioned by Miler.) He will then wrap his arms around your elbows - (and not under since the lifting will be different)
Lifting with arms around your chest will help your body to crack with all your weight coming down while lifting you up off the ground. Sometimes, since I'm too heavy, while hubby is trying to lift me up, I don't even get off the ground but I can still hear some "cracks" and it still worth it.
Definitely , it should crack right away and you will feel relaxed.
Just do it and let me know. I'm sure you will be happy with it

I go to my chiropracter regularly and one thing he does that helps alleviate my low back pressure is this:
Lie on your stomach on a firm surface and place a small pilloe under each hip bone. This should lift your pelvis off tha surface slightly. Then have your husband put one hand on your upper back for support and with the other hand have him put pressure down on your low back. This hand should be almost to your tailbone. While he presses down, have him also stretch you out. It feels like he is trying to pull your spine in two different directions. This allows for any compression between your vertabrae to be relieved a little. Although it isn't quite cracking your back, it does feel great and relieves pressure.

This is probably not the place to seek advise on this problem. You state that you do not have an injury now, you may not be able to make that same statement after you pick your best answer. Good Luck anyway.

Have him stand behind you. You cross your arms over your chest. He will wrap his arms around your elbows and lift you up off the ground (wahoo), and gives you a little "shake" or jerk up and down. It should crack right away. Have fun.
You can also try to crack it yourself. Sit with your legs extended in front of you. Cross your right foot over your left knee and turn to the left quickly - pushing your elbow against your right knee. Switch legs and try the other side.

I have a similar thing and my husband cracks my back for me - gently mind you!
I stand in front of him and put my arms around his neck and snuggle up to him (that's his pay-off he says) then he gently hugs me with his hands clasped behind my back, until I feel my back click . . . . . . . sometimes I need this done a couple of times in different places, but it works for me.
Another thing I do is place one foot on a chair or toilet seat and egently t-w-i-s-t to each side, the important thing is to be gentle.

Given how easy it would be to make a sex joke here, I'm not gonna. I just thought I would mention that if I did, you would have totally walked right into it.
