This year is not a Presidential election year, but all the House members and 1/3 of the Senator are running. I've heard the Dem. may win the control of the House, but probably not the Senate. If the Rep keep the Senate, Why should Pres. Bush care if the Dem. win the House?

1) The ability to delay and bury proposals the other party may try to pass.

2) Majority in the House of Representatives - gives that party more influence in that body .
More Committee's' chairmanships ( Who set the agenda )
Mostly - the ability to decide what issues comes before the house.....
The Democrats will be more than happy to summon FEMA's honchos to ask questions about Katrina ,
Iraq's fiasco,
Guantanamo Camp's conditions,
Corp scandals ,
Hedge Funds faux pas
etc. issues that will generate favorable headlines and other goodies to embarrass the Republicans

It's all about 'ink' and headlines !

Since legislation has to pass both houses and be signed by the president during a specific session of Congress, or else go through the whole process again next time, an all-Republican Congress can get more bills passed than a split Congress.

Many Americans prefer a split Congress, or a Congress controlled by one party and a President of the other party, because it trims down the amount of "party legislation" that would be better for one party than for the other.

Incidentally, President Bush is the first president to make it through a whole four-year term without vetoing any legislation whatsoever.

There is an unelected group in the US that wields more power than any president- the Military Industrial Complex. Eisenhower warned us about this in his farewell address; he admitted being scared they would interrupt democracy in our country by influencing war just to sell their products.

The strategy that is used to gain influence is by spreading out the industrial complex into each state they need influence. Senators will want to create jobs for his constituents and get the contributions from the complex.

Government officials will be offered sweetheart consulting positions after office if they agree to assist in making the US an ever bigger military superpower. The only problem is where will it end, and at what cost? Eisenhower talked about the iron cross. We should listen today now more than ever.

You think it matters what president or leaders we have. It doesn't. Some presidents are just more susceptible to influence than others (BUSH) and initiate the military influenced changes more quickly. The MIComplex prefers a fascist style government b/c it's easier to sell its concepts/ideas/products.

The dem's can launch all sorts of investigations into bush's back room dealing. They can also launch an impeachment proceedings and that could destroy or at least tie up his administration for the next 2 years. The dems could dig up all there dirt with congressional subpoena power.

Bush won't care if the Dems get the House; even if they get the Senate, it won't matter. By executive fiat, Bush's signing statements "allow" him to override any law they pass. He has essentially put himself above the law.

Then he can't keep an edge and differences between House and Senate laws will take longer to hammer out
