I had my daughter in july 2002 and I went to my three or six week checkup, the one that you go to after you have a baby. I was advised to take The DEPO shot, so I took it for a year and a half, but I have not had a period since then, and that is five years now that I have not had one. I am worried because I have not had one and that is not normal, the only thing is that I do not have insurance to see what is wrong with me, and I have been trying to have another baby and I have not succeeded in that act. Is there something that I can do to become pregnant or is that dream gone forever due to me taking this shot? PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME I Need some MAJOR ADVICE!!!!!

I had exactly ONE depo shot after my second child was born, and I was out of my mind for an entire year (hormones), so I know that stuff has a lasting effect.
You should give your area Health Department a call and ask about their financial guidelines and/or referrals to doctors or clinics who handle low-income or uninsured patients. Those places will usually work on a sliding scale according to your income and/or allow payment arrangements. If you have a regular doctor, call the office and ask what it would take to MAKE some sort of pay arrangement.
You need to be sure that everything's alright in there.

Well unless you live in the sticks, I'd say grab a phone book and look up the nearest obgyn. I can't even imagine why you have waited this long to address this problem. Pardon me, but that is just plain stupid on your part. You got bad advice with the DEPO shot and not seeing anyone before now is just compounding the problem. DON'T return to the person who reco'd the DEPO shot. Seek other advice...NOW!!! This is not normal. If you can't afford health insurance, how on earth can you afford another child?

If you aren't into the doctor medical route and want to go the natural path, then seek out the advice of Wendy Wilson.....http://www.thepowerherbs.com/ She is a competent herbalist who can help you along a path that will give you the answers you seek. Hope this helps.

Hi.. u should seriously go and n see a doc. Specially a gynaecologist or a reproductive endocrinologist who specialise in this area. were your periods normal before? if not.. do u have symptoms like excess body hair? obesity? if so you may be having problems with your hormone levels.. i request to consult a relevant doc as soon as possible.

All the Best Hun!

You seriously need to go to the doc for that! It isn't good for you to go that long without having a period, and there could be some serious underlying problems as to why you are not having them. And there is NO WAY you are going to have a healthy preganancy until you get whatever problem there is solved. Don't let me scare you honey, just go see a doc. Good luck!

If you are interested in alternative therapies, you might look into Reiki. I know someone who had the same problem with the shots and her doctor was very little help. She started getting Reiki sessions and her period started again.

Girl, of course you won't get pregnant you haven't had a period for 5 years. You're not ovulating to begin with. You'd better see a doctor.
