Yup, I confess that I do. I hate bookmarks for the same reason I hate those cards that fall out of magazines--refuse to use them. I'm sure there's a special place in Book Hell reserved for me, but I do it anyway.

Only if it is a used book some one gave me that is already marked in such a way. When you use a bookmark to mark your page, you are saving the integrity of the book for future readers as well as those who would buy and sell these books for profit.

I have a bag of rubber bands that I keep handy. They are good for marking pages and not falling out -- slip them over the book top to bottom, at the page where you stopped. Next time you begin reading, they don't get in the way of page-turning (if you have gotten one that's the right size for the book).

Also, rubber bands are good for "shooting" at people (ha!). But, periodically, I have to go pick them up all over the place!!!

AAHHHHHH!! I can't stand dog-ears! They drive me crazy. Try using a post-it note to mark your place... It doesn't damage the book and doesn't fall out! Post-It also makes other products, like little sticky flags made specifically for pointing things out. It's a very inexpensive way of keeping your place without permanently damaging your book.

It depends on the quality of the book. If it's a paperback book I bought for under two or three dollars at a used bookstore...then I'm not always concerned about preserving it perfectly for any possible rereadings. But I feel too guilty doing it to a new book I pay full price for.

Ouch, oh no, I couldn't do that to a book. I have a batch of bookmarks and select one that matches with the book's theme. If none of the bookmarks are around when I need them, I'll resort to anything handy (a paper napkin, a piece of mail, etc.).

Use to, but that is so disrespectful of the written page, so now I use a bookmark or a paperclip, books are a world wonder not to be messed up so the next generations can enjoy them.

sometimes I do because I always misplace my book marks or the cats carry them off to play with. I don't like to bend the pages down on borrowed books, or library books.

Never!! I always remember the page number. I never turn the book over while reading either....it breaks the spine.

Nope. I use an old-fashioned book mark.
