At my daughters'school, they changed the uniform somewhat: the girls had the choice of trousers or skirt. Most chose trousers, except in hot weather. All had to wear a tie - i'm not sold on that- and the boys didn't get the choice: they had to wear trousers. Gender issues......
I did agree with the blazer, and the colour, which was black, although navy blue is equally practical. Shirt was white, which is OK.
So, th eideal uniform?
The above is practical and traditional, so if that is what you prefer, so be it.
A more modern one could be a polo shirt, trousers or skirt (for either gender?) in a casual style, black, blue or grey, so easily available and practical; not sweat pants, they look skanky after a day or two. Dark tights with the skirt. A blazer might look strange with the polo shirt, so either the collar would be worn outside the coat or a re-think on coats.

They have a choice of skirt or trousers for girls as some ladies are still not allowed to show their legs - religion thing!

As long as both trousers or skirts conform to the school dress code - I really do not think it matters. Just wear whatever you feel more comfortable with.

At my school we had a choice between a horrible kilt or black trousers, most of use opted for trousers,. It was actually a pretty good uniform though, just black and white basically.
But I think they should get rid of uniforms altogether, too many paedophiles get turned on by the uniform!

As I wasn't allowed to wear trousers in the 80s I'd say both.

Tshirts & skirts of our own choice colors and a sutable colured skaff on the neck. Ideal uniform is that which gives a smart look as a student. I've got my 2 points.

I'm a fan of skirts personally (can never find trousers to fit) but I guess choice is paramount.
