The phenomenon you are describing is called trichotilomania which is an impulsive control disorder. Although it is not too dangerous, in extreme cases hairballs may develop in the abdomen (called trichobezoar). This condition can lead to intestinal blockage, which may only be relieved via surgery.

Not a lot. You can't digest your hair (or your fingernails, which are made of the same protein), so if you eat enough hair at a time you may get a hairball, but if you nibble it in small pieces like people who bite their nails, you won't even notice it. (Until you get a strand stuck halfway down and it makes you gag.)

Oh, and your hair won't really look terrific.

Being a hairstylist, I have pulled many hair splinters out of my body. Hair can be sharp and work its way into the skin. I'd be concerned what its doing inside your body and the soft tissue thats in there.

Not much, unless you eat a lot. It will be digested or passed. There are better things to eat.
