If the returner LEAVES the endzone..then re-enters on his own and gets downed..that would be a safety. (If he is forced back, they'll give forward progress to however far he got before the other guy hit him back.) As long as he doesn't leave the endzone after gaining possession of the football, it's a touchback. Once they leave...there is no turning back.

It would depend. If he fielded the KO in the end zone and never left then it is a touchback, ball on the 20. If he say, fielded the ball on the 3, ran into the end zone to avoid defenders and was tackled then it is a safety. If he fielded the ball in the end zone, ran out to the 5, then back into the end zone and was tackled, again a safety

That depends. If he catches the ball in the end zone and gets tackled its a touchback. If he catches it in the end zone, runs over the goal line, and then get tackled back into the end zone its a safety. And lets say he catches it at the 2 yard line and gets tackled into the end zone its a safety.

As long as he was in the endzone the whole time it is a touchback. To the one saying well if he was PUSHED back into the endzone it is a safety, no it isn't. They would rule forward progress and base it on where he was pushed from, which I believe you said was the 2. Much like last year's playoff game where the Steelers tackled Manning in the end zone on fourth down BUT it was given to them on the goal line, he was downed before being pushed into the endzone, where he landed. They go by where you start to go down, not where you end up.

If the returner is trying to bring the ball out of the endzone, it is a safety. He has to make a "football move" toward the goal line. If he changes his mind, he can always take a knee for a touchback.

ACK uneducated football fans make me MAD!!!! The team that sacks the Quarterback gets rewarded the ball ....... the term for the ensuing kick is called a FREE KICK...the kicking team (that which was sacked) has the OPTION to punt or kick off a tee...they do not HAVE To punt. Most teams do punt because the kick comes from the 20 instead of the 35 yard line and therefore punting offers a better coverage situation but, if a kicker has an outstanding leg teams will kick off the tee in order to get the ball deeper down the feel and hope the gunners (faster kick coverage players) get to the ball handler inside the 30 yard line. In summary.......they receive the ball via a free kick which can be a punt or off the tee kick

Depends if he makes an effort to leave the endzone. If he doesn't, it's a touchback.

should be a touchback.

if he catches it outside the endzone, then runs back into the end zone and gets tackled, then it's a safety.
