My best friend and I were playing DDR but for some reason my dance pad will not acknowloage when the 'down' arrow is being hit during a song (Playing DDRX2), but when I touch it to scroll down to find a song, it works! During the song, it either wont acknowloage the down arrow or delay it during the song... Can someone please tell me what is up with this? Is there anything I can do to fix it?

It isn't the metal pad, it is the fold up plastic-like one...

Check the warranty. And if you've not had it too long, most stores will take it back to exchange if you're nice and explain, "I bought this recently and for some reason only 3 out of the 4 buttons work.
If that doesn't work, you can write the manufacturer. That often works too. Unless you've had it for years, you probably shouldn't have that problem.

The fold up ones are really weak. I recommend buying a stronger one with foam inserts. If you have a warranty, replace it ASAP. If you are an expert at DDR, you should buy a stronger pad. The fold ups aren't strong enough for advanced play.

ITG official pads are GREAT. $20-$30, and they last quite a while. For me at least. Unfortunately, they're out of stock, so any other soft pads will have to do I guess.
BTW, the whole "soft pads without foam isn't great for advanced play".
They could be be any further from the truth.

I just "modded" it using lots of duct tape and thick cardboard.

Anyways, I wish you a happy DDR Pad hunting! Try to find one cheap online for AT LEAST $20! Any less than that is crap.

sometimes the pads get worn out, and you just need to buy a new one. That or your not hitting it hard enough on the censor when your actually playing. I do that all the time. I hate those damn back arrows. lol
