Bush and his pro-war supporters say the answer to defeating terrorism is to murder every last terrorist so there are no more on the face of the planet. My question: If we actually did kill off every last terrorist would we never again have to deal with terrorism? It's an important question because this "logic" is at the center of the pro-war strategy. Just imagine bin Laden and every last terrorist is now dead. Will this condition mean we are finally safe from the harm of terrorism in the future?

*Please, if you like leaving sarcastic anti-liberal answers, go on to disrespect another question.

Of course not.

What Bush is calling a terrorist is a unhappy rebel by another name. Our founding fathers were terrorists as far as King George and his troops were concerned. They did not follow the established rules of war and were toppling the established regime.

Our founding fathers are now defined as heros and patriots because they won. If they had lost they would have gone down in history as fools, anarchists -- terrorists, or worse.

As long as anyone is unhappy with the current power elite, there will be opposition and some of the opposition will be called terrorists.

No we would not be free from terrorism in the future because we have to do what you said AND get rid of the oppression that breeds terrorism. If every country in the world is free of socialism and communism, had free markets, and had freely elected governments, then there would be no where for these killers to live.

We walk a fine line with this almost nation building concept. We have the right to exist as a free nation. We have the right to invade anyone who threatens us either with force or to gather weapons that could do mass destruction (WMD's). Countries in this category include: Iran, Syria, North Korea, Venezuela, and maybe Cuba.

We do not have the right to take out a leader simply because we do not agree with him. This premise will keep us out of Socialist Europe.

We are at a point in the world as a way of life where are threatened. We must go on offense and take out dictators who aid and abed our enemies. We must also fix our excessive tax structure, which has gotten us into trouble. By having so many entitlements with a job: Social Security taxes, employee taxes, burdensome regulation, etc., companies simply move to where it is cheaper to operate, which means India (our friend and ally) and China (the aider to our enemies).

We must as a society elect officials who are:

1. Dedicated to fighting terrorism. There are very few Democrats who have not politicized these efforts. Sen Lieberman is one and he was thrown overboard by Democrats solely because of his views on the war. I live in CT and know this is the only thing he is not liberal on. We must do anything needed to get information out of terrorists. Democrats have politicized what they call torture and it makes me sick.

2. Willing to fix the burdensome tax structure in this country. A national sales tax is the best way to get jobs back here. The Fair Tax is the only good reform I have seen.

3. Deal with illegal immigration. Another issue that Democrats will not touch. There are too many Republicans who are on the wrong side of this issue. We must have all immigrants here legally. No amnesty. Conservative Republicans have been the only ones who have been willing to attack this problem.

4. Drill for oil in America. We have it and refuse to drill for it. ANWAR is one example. We must eliminate our dependence on oil from the Middle East. We finance our enemies by needing their oil. Conservation does not work. Using energy more efficiently does. Once again, Democrats are on the wrong side of this issue. There are also just enough Republicans that have blocked this. Conservatives are the only ones on the right side of this issue.

These issues must be dealt with before we can become a secure nation. It is all interconnected.

You ask a great question. It seems like you are a liberal or a Democrat. I like questions like these because the name calling and partisanship can be put aside. BTW, I am a conservative fed up with Republicans in Congress.

I think we would be better off but there will always be those who hate America and want to destroy our freedoms. It's like getting criminals off the street. For every one put in jail there are many more waiting to cause destruction. If we get rid of Al Queda we will be doing the whole world a great justice. At least the main organization will be destroyed and they'll have to start all over again. They will know that they can't mess with the good ole USA.

No, because Bin Laden and all other terrorists have families. Those family members will live to hate Bush and everyone else who plotted to kill their family member and other terrorists and in effect they will be driven to seek revenge. And it will go on forever. Good theory though. I wish it was that simple

No because with as much evil as there is in the world today there is no possible way to kill all of the terrorists.

Nothing is certain or ever will be.
At least the ones we kill today won't be planting bombs tomorrow .
