Yes,it uses its weight,strength and also angle of strike to bring down its prey so as not to get caught under their prey and also avoid injury from the horns(some species) of the prey. The cats normally avoid frontal attacks..
They usually kill their prey by breaking the neck or suffocating by holding the neck.
Lions are bolder and hunt in groups;so do not do stalking as much as tigers or leopards do. Tigers are the best and neat killers.

Big cats use a combination of cunning, intelligence and patience in stalking prey (they must stalk and do sneak-attacks since they can run fast for only short bursts at a time); razor-sharp teeth and claws to administer fatal blows, and of course weight and strength to get the prey killed. Big cats are also known to use their strength to carry carcasses up into high trees to eat in peace. There is a show about big cats right now running on the Discovery Channel that explains all this.

Strength and weight helps to build momentum, then, WHAM! But often they're turning and twisting to chase their prey so there's not so much momentum.

I think they use baseball bats. I don't know what they did before baseball was invented though. Maybe big sticks.
