Since skin tones vary greatly among women of African descent, finding the right face makeup can be tricky. The wrong makeup can lead to an ashen or flat complexion, but with a little insight and a lot of experimentation, you can minimize the guesswork and put your best face forward.
It will probably be best to buy from companies specializing in cosmetics for African- American women, they have the best selections (like Flori Roberts and Iman), especially in foundation selections. Avoid cosmetic lines that have high levels of titanium dioxide (like MAC). When it warms up to the skin that is when the skin might look ashen, gray, or (on darker-skin) olive green.
If you go to the link I have provided below the site gives you several tips on how to pick the right foundation for you.

Forget foundation, try mineral powder, it is brilliant, I used foundations for years, and last year decided it was time for a change. Visit the following site, they do all shades from Kate Moss through to Jamelia. They sell little sample pots for your to try before buying a 3 month supply.
This powder gives your a flawless finish, covers spots, and any other skin blemishes, honest its really good.
Have a look and try, I'm sure you will be pleased.

Ther are various brands of foundation for black skins now, the best way to find the best one is by trial and error. Try going for a consultation at the beauty counter of different brands. Some good ones are Fashion fair, clinique, revlon but one of my personal favourites has to be Mac.

Depending on the complexion, Borghese may have something. its an Italian line available at high end department stores. They have several darker shades. ( it is expensive though)
Also i am sure there are some cosmetics made for blackskin, but i don't know what they are. Avon has a line for black skin.
Try going on line with your question and good luck.
