Depends largely on your circumstances, since the contrast is really a labor issue which the Brits acknowledge. In America we believe it's a character issue.
If you are working class low, middle or upper, Middle Management or in anyway dependent on your working income , dem is better.
If you are wealthy, mid to large business owner, corporation, Upper management or in anyway making a living off the backs of cheap and slave labor read: then repub is better.
repubs believe it's o.k to take advantage and step right on someones head to amass a fortune that they cannot create with the effort of their own hard work and creativity and they believe it should be cheap and easy for them. They believe the benefits of the free market applies to themselves as business owners and the consumer but not the labor force. Labor collectively in the form of a union or individually and collectively in the form political activism is not entitled to put a price on their commodity which is their time and hard work. That is the republican view.

II my opinion neither is technically better. I live in Texas and many local and state dems are excellent. However on the national level the dems are dominated by the Howard Dean, Michael Moore, Hollywood, cool aide drinking, hate America, cowardly, commie wing of the party and they are scary and wrong for America.
Yousev: You are repeating they old class warfare lie that the dems are for the poor and the working man. The Bush tax cut went to everyone, Since democratic LBJ started this cradle to grave support for Americans in his "Great Society" democrates have done little to actually help the "common man". Our public education system which is terrible is in the back pocket in the dems and they wouldn't think of allowing the average American to attend the expensive private schools they send their own kids too. Both Clinton and Gores kids attended private school while Bush's' attended public schools. If you want to really help people you cut their taxes, provide a good education, promote business instead of demonize it and aid people in owning their own businesses and homes. The republicans are much better at that than the dems.

Wow, that's a tough one! Thats almost like asking 'what is the meaning of life?'! You have to ask yourself... how much do you know about politics? Typically, by majority, Democrats are Liberal. Republicans are Conservative. Please believe, I am trying to explain this as unbiased as a can. Asking yourself if you are a Liberal (also referred to as 'Progressive' or 'The Left') or a Conservative (also referred to as 'The Right') is a place to start. Conservatives typically are deep rooted in their family values and religion. They believe no one owes you a thing unless you work for it (you get what you work for). They are vigilant in any fight for what they deem is moral and right. A liberal is more typically a free spirit. While being a free spirit, they seem to gravitate toward large groups that are against various issues. They have a communistic approach to life in general (goverment should provide health care free to all, minimum wage should be higher, etc.). Their reaction to most any issue is more defensive than vigilant (comparison - a kid is throwing a temper tantrum in the grocery store: a Liberal will try to divert the childs attention with a snack or a bribe of McDonalds after shopping: a Conservative will warn the child with the possibilty of punishment if the tantrum continues and will follow through without empty threats).
Another comparison - If a good Conservative's belongings, or other, are searched, chances are the Conservative will not mind because he has nothing to hide. If a good Liberal is subject to the same search, he or she might get upset because they feel their privacy has been violated. This may not be the answer you are looking for. There is the potential for evil on both sides. Communism would be the perfect party if there was no such thing as sin. To my knowledge, Heaven is the 'only country' that has this capability. I hope and pray I am allowed in someday. I hear it is a great place. It is a good gamble to accept the belief in in a savior. The alternative belief (or lack of) offers nothing after death or ?! I prefer faith in 'something' as opposed to 'nothing'. Everyone has a different opininion. I wish you the best in forming your own. I hope you can answer your own question and stand firm in your belief. Thanks for posting your question. YOU made me THINK.

Only a chump stands by a party without condition, unless they own some part of the party apparatus.
A smart voter is a switch voter.
I am with stem cell research
I am with the death penalty
I am with pro choice
I am with the war in Iraq
I am with trading some freedom for greater security
Obviously, I am for the party that gets me more regarding my job and the local economy.
No party monoplizes all the right answers to these issues, so I pick and choose which representative gives me the most for my vote.

Neither but if you want restraint in government then you need to have both parties control a part of government.
They are both horrible.
