although old, Global Operations was a great FPS, and, if you're willing to pay around $15 a month there's Everquest, and that's good for not only fighting monsters (like Dungeons and Dragons, or World of Warcraft) but is also a very open social game and not repetative (like World of Warcraft is)

Evil Genius.
It's like Rollar Coaster Tycoon. You pick a character, build a sercret underground layer and take over the world!
It's soooooooooo much fun and more addicting than Sims.
