My significant's daughter just quit her job due to some negative comments made by her boss. My advise to her was to confront and face the reality and take corrective actions. Instead now she wants to work for her future husband who as offered her a $ 400 a week job working in his restaurant. I am not sure if this arrangment is formal or otherwise. Is this a smart move leaving a career to working for him ?. What are the pit falls ? Did she do the right thing ?. Your opinions please.

I think it would be an awful thing to do lose her indepence. If she has a career she should stick at it and stand up for herself in life if you ave the oppurtunity to its to easy to jack things in she should stand up and be counted - if nothing else she will gain respect

It depends on what she wants for the future. If she want to marry and do the "housewife" thing then it's no big deal. If she wants a real career either she will use this new job as a bridge to something more important, or after sometime doing dishes or whatever she'll get sick of it and get back out there. There is not much you can do, however. No, it's not a smart career move and it's going to hurt her resume. But I did the same thing (sort of) once and it just reminded me that it's more important to just deal with jerks.

Not a smart move for many reasons. Pit falls include jealousy from other employees believing she is treated with favoritism, jealousy when she see her future husband interacting with other females, not having a separate outlet from the relationship, and countless others.

It's a fine idea, if working in a restaurant is what she wants to do. Besides, once they are married, the restaurant becomes theirs (in most cases, at least). The two of them will be owning and running their own business, which is what a lot of people would like to be able to do.

I feel sorry for her if you are going to be the mother-in-law. You just need to worry about your own business and let her live her life.
If she has any REAL skills she will probably get tired of the restuarant industry, (which is very demanding, working weekends, holidays, and so on...) and go back to her normal career.
Just dont give advice to her unless she asks.oOh... you're her step mom?? My advice is keep your nose in your own business. I hope you get mauled by a bear.

I think most of the time i'd say she shouldnt but it really depends on the people! If it doesnt work out she can always go back to what she was doing just for another company.... Be supportive!

Since she quit her job, let her work for her future husband. If it doesn't work out, then seek a solution.

Sure if she is going to marry him anyway she would have ended up working for him. If he pays her and they can get along working together then there is no reason why she shouldn't

no it makes no sense at all, what if her future husband decides to marry someone else? it would be awkward if she still worked at his restaurant, or it would be stupid if she quit just because he married someone else (which is probably what she would do..)

sure, if you want to work with him and be with him all the time, and he works in a field you enjoy and are qualified for then why not
