Depends on what state you live in. You need to go to the DMV to get your permits and licenses though.
First you get a permit (you have to be with a parent and can't drive at night)
Then you get another permit (can ride without parent but not at night unless it is for a job)
The one after that (ride without parent and at night)
Then you finally get your license.
It takes 3 years to get the final license from the first permit.

But if you mean just getting the final license it could take from an hour up to the whole day depending on how busy the DMV is.

well depends how old you are, if you're under 18, you have to take drivers ed first, i would recomend doing it online, and then when you finish that, you have to get enrolled into driving school, and then go to the DMV to get your permit, and then wait 6 months untill you can go back to the dmv to get your license. if not, just do straight to the DMV and fill out some papers to take your test... good luck its not so hard : )

Here in NC we go to the DMV
Once you get back there about 45 mins to an hour
