I find it hard to stand up in front of class, make new friends, etc. Any ideas? I'm not going to a shrink.

I think it's just hard for some people, but will improve with age. Most colleges run a short confidence building class but u should also practice by gently pushing the boundaries of your comfort zone in such situations. Good luck!! :o)

The more often you speak the better you will get and the more confident you will become in your own abilties. I used to be very insecure and timid but I auditioned for school plays (and was given a role each time despite my nervousness), I joined a drama team, I did a summer program on leadership, and am taking a highschool speech class this year. Through exposure to audiences I learned to enjoy being on stage and discovered confidence. As far as making new friends is concerned I feel that you should be yourself and people with similar interests or ideas will gravitate towards you. Don't be afraid to speak up, don't withdraw inside yourself, and appear open and willing to converse!

Hope this helps! ^_^;

When talking in a group or in front of people, imagine them on the toilet. You'll realise that they're just human like you. Honestly it works. It takes a certain type of person to be able to hold an audience. Being less confident doesn't make you less able. Confidence comes with age and you'll get knocked down more times than you can count, but don't worry, it'll all help you in the end. You can take more than you think. Try pushing yourself forward and joining in group activities?

All people start off like you.Even the most confidant public speaker had to start ,and no doubt felt a bit nervous. rehurse in front of a mirror, always speak as if everyone is at the back of the room and always look at the hairline of the audience.It gets easier the more you do, put yourself into situations to practice and you will b as good as the rest of em

I go to school and meet alot of people. Most of the time i'll never see the same person twice, and that sucks, so if you think along those lines, you'll just try to talk to as many people as you can, if they dont like you, you'll never see them again, if they do, you have a friend for life.

You are shy, theres nothing wrong with that, confidence doesnt come easy to all of us, we have to work at it. I would say pratice makes perfect and the nerves wont go away, weve all got them.. Make someone laugh to break the ice that usually works..

And chill-- Life is never easy but dont give up. Keep smiling

you dont need a shrink. confidence comes from doing new things. you should try doing something new every day. also confidence comes with age, we are all a little unsure about things we dont know.

Join a drama class, join a gym, Do something after school/work etc like any activities, you are bound to meet small groups and eventually new friends to have and socialise with.

Dont be shy, give it a try..................
