When buying a subway franchise is the territory protected?

im doing a report for school and one question i must answer is if the franchises territory is protected... im doing my on subway.. so can anyone help?

The Master Franchise owner has control over the other franchises in a given territory. Look up Master Franchise.

there are serveral different subways in my city and I know their are two different owners.
