RE:
what does Kappa mean in Greek?

The word "kappa" used as the name for the Greek letter did not have its own meaning in Greek --is was just the letter name (as we say "kay" to name the equivalent letter, k). The name was borrowed along with the letter from the Phoenician alphabet --one version of the ancient Northwest Semitic alphabet (including Hebrew and Aramaic).

In these languages the letter name was "kaph", and seems to have come from the word meaning "hand". Probably the original shape of the letter was intended to look like a hand.
"Kappa" did have one other meaning in ancient Greek -- like the Hebrews, Phoenicians, etc. the Greeks also used the letters to represent numbers. In these scheme alpha to iota (the first ten letters of the Greek alphabet), stand for one to ten; the next letter, kappa, was used for "TWENTY"

You may find the word kappa used more recently used, like other Greek letters:

1) for symbols and terms in math and science

2) as part of a name for a fraternity or sorority ("Kappa" might even be used all alone as an abbreviation for a three-letter fraternity name, esp. if it is the FIRST letter in that name)

But note that these uses are NOT the meaning in Greek!
