if you are going to paint your molding, the putit down and caulk the lower and upper edges. that will mean, of course, that you will have to paint the wall.

If you are not going to paint the wall, or don't want to, where the bottom and top of the molding touch the ceiling and wall, I would remove the texture with light touches of a chisel.

Yes, it will look dorky with all the gaps. You have two choices, scrape the texture out of your way, install your moulding tight to the ceiling. Or, choice two, hold the crown down from the ceiling about 3/8" to show a reveal.

Dorky. Textured ceilings look cool when first installed, but they are a major pain in the long run. You're gonna have to scrape it off around the perimeter to get the moulding right.

with a textured ceiling you need to scrape the ceiling smooth,where the moulding sits.you could also use an arcrylic caulk to fill any gaps if you dont scrape but that is the lazy way out.good luck

You will just have to run a bead of caulk around to fill the little gaps. That is the way all contractors do it

You' have to caulk it in to make it look right.If you don't know what your doing this can be messy.
