Ok, it stands to reason that it is something sexual. Now, TOWER BRIDGE (often mistakenly referrred to as London Bridge) opens up to allow ships to pass. So maybe the song should be "you make my Tower Bridge want to open" instead of "You make my London Bridge want to go down". London Bridge meaning panties is a new one on me...

Hey guys! She means Fergie's Song "London Bridge" Not the Nursery rhyme!!!!

Its a song about Queen Elanor who squandered the cities funds on everything but the bridge, and so it was 'falling down' and need to be built back up. I also saw a reference that indicated it was related to when the Norse and Danes attacked and burned down the bridge, but I've heard the explanation about Queen Elanor not keeping the bridge well-maintained from other people before.

I've never heard the underwear thing, and I don't think all the verses fit into that explanation; not to mention that it is several hundred years old and 'panties' did not exists in the same shape.

The meaning of the rhyme is obscure. Most obviously, it relates to the many difficulties experienced in bridging the River Thames: London's earlier bridges did indeed "wash away" before a bridge built of "stone so strong" was constructed. It has been suggested that the "fair lady" who is "locked up" is a reference to an old practice of burying a dead virgin in the foundations of the bridge to ensure its strength through magical means, although this more plausibly refers to Queen Eleanor. Intriguingly, the rhyme is not confined to England and variants exist in many other western and central European countries.

Yes. They were telling about how the bridge was sagging, so they closed it up and moved it.
