Usama bin Laden has died a peaceful death due to an untreated lung complication, the Pakistan Observer reported, citing a Taliban leader who allegedly attended the funeral of the Al Qaeda leader.

When you hear a threat which is "probably" made by bin Laden, just remember that he's "probably" dead.

Also think about who benefits from your believing he's alive.

The Central Intelligence Agency has closed a unit that for a decade had the mission of hunting Osama bin Laden and his top lieutenants, intelligence officials confirmed Monday. Pakistan's president says he thinks Osama bin Laden is most likely dead because the suspected terrorist has been unable to get treatment for his kidney disease.

If bin laden was realy dead then anyone around him was killed also to protect this secret from leaking out .
He would have had his bodie brought to the largest city around and displayed by the people as a martyr to gain Muslim support all over the world for his cause .
It seems un-likely that he has died in the absence of what would be a very public display of him after his death .

I doubt we can ever be sure of the truth, but it would make life easier if we could get public confirmation of his death.

_IF_ he was actually killed by U.S. special forces while in Pakistan, it stands to reason that all sides would want to avoid disclosing that. The U.S. would not want to admit they violated Pakistani territory, Pakistan would not want to admit we were able to sneak in and operate there, and Al Qaeda would not want to admit we were able to reach him.

The absence of a public funeral could be a sign of fear that the U.S. would then track the people leaving, but it could also be Bin Laden being blown into thousands of little pieces.

The real question is this: what is our government/media trying to defocus us from? What really is going on in the world the ought to report but are giving as a 24/7 maybe/maybe not bone to gnaw on.... Who cares if he's alive or dead?
