I just had a baby few weeks ago. I was 38 weeks then, but on that day, I did not go to the hospital for delivery. I went there for a check up. The doctor examine me and said I was already dilated 6 cm and I should give birth that day. I asked the doctor whether she was going to induced me and she said no. She said that it is not induction. She will only give me gulocose and will not break the water. I feel not ready but have no choice.
In just a moment she came and insert the tube of gulocose into my body and start inserting her hand. It feel realy painful. I don`t know what she was doing. After that they took me immediately into the labor ward, there, the water broke and the baby is born.

I wonder whether this is not call an induction. I gave birth in less than half an hour. If this is not an induction, what else could it be?

you had a augmentation.... for an induction you would recieve pitocin in your IV and they would have broke your water...since you were already 6 cm there was no need for the induction process

This sounds like augmentation and not an induction. Your body had already kicked in. I would bet that the Dr. broke your water during your vaginal exam and that caused your quick dilation and delivery. What I would do is after 6 weeks your chart will be discharged from the floor then call the hospital records department and ask for a copy of your chart everything Dr. and nurses notes included read it and see what if anything was given to you.
If you are not comfortable with this Dr. do not go back. A healthy baby is not the only thing that matters. A mom should not feel like she was villated in childbirth or not listened to. A happy and satisfing birth experience makes for a happy and strong mom. Good luck getting the answers to your situation resolved.

Is your doctors name Gloria Jue by chance??

I just had my baby a week ago. I went into the dr office for a check up and she said I was at 4 and wanted me to come back in two days. So i did and she said I was at five and she wanted me to go to the hospital. So I did. She told me they weren't going to give me any drugs to help speed up the delivery. So they broke my water. I was fine and then they came in and started giving me the medicine they said they weren't going to give me. They kicked it up from 3 to 15 in a half hour. THen I said i wanted an epidural and the dr came in and said I was at 9. She just didn't want me to get the epidural because it slows labor. Then after I go tthe epidural the nurse checked me and said I was at 7. My doc lied to me so I wouldn't get drugs. But I did anyways. I was still in a lot of pain. And the epiduarl didn't even have time to kick in and I was pushing.

I was at the hospital from 6-9. They broke my water at 6 and she was born at 9.

I don't know if I was really dialted that far in the office because I wasn't having any contractions. I was only 38 weeks, too. My dr. Just kept telling me once I went it would go fast and she wanted to make sure I had time to get to the hospital.

It's not an induction as to be induced they start the labour off for you and you were already in labour to be 6cm dilated(over half way) The glucose that you had is usually because you have protein in your urine and it helps give you a bit of strength. When she put her fingers inside you it was to measure how much you had dilated. You gave birth very fast because you dilated quickly, lucky you.

I don't think it would be considered an induction. Although I am certainly no expert. It sounds like your body was ready, but just needed some prodding to get in gear. An induction usually occurs when you aren't dialated and they inject you with pitocin I believe. I don't really know though, I'm sorry I couldn't be more help.

Well i never heard of a doctor using glucose in side the vagina. I had an induction and the doctor put something in my called cervidil, and basically it makes you real sensitive down there and makes labor go faster. He may not have lied to you about being dilated, but he may have lied about being induced.

Having a baby is scarry, maybe you should practice birth control. Doctor's like to be the boss too. Maybe you should get a doctor that speaks your language and respects you! Shop around!

stop worrying about what the doctor did and start thinking about how lucky you are to have a beautifull healthy baby. Who cares how it came into the world, it makes no difference from now on.

Whether you were ready or not, your baby was. It was time. How much more time did you need to be ready?
