yes all animals with hair have dander. Chinchillas shed their hair like crazy, it offten comes off in clumps if they are scared. They also require a weekly dust bath. I had 2 of them and had to give them away due to my husbands allergies. Every time I cleaned the cage he had an ashma attach!

Only if they aren't properly taken care of, but otherwise they are known to be clean animals.
