There are a number of ways for you to achieve this, but let's talk about the most likely way.

- Take acting classes at your local university or if you have the financial backing, see if you can get into one of the more prestigious acting schools.
- Audition for local theatre presentations.
- Join a guild.
- As you refine your craft and get your name out there, get with a professional photographer to take some headshots as this will be your calling card as you look for work and possibly an agent.
- When to get an agent... if you can get one to represent you early on, then go for it. If it's a good agent, they'll have their finger on the pulse of what's going on in film and other productions. Be careful here because some of these so-called agents are scam artists trying to get a buck off of you.

If you seem to have a natural talent, you could be discovered while you're doing local theatre performances, but I wouldn't go this route hoping that someday, you'll be discovered. It'll probably never happen.

Probably the most easy way into being an actor is if you know someone in a film production company. If you don't know someone, make contacts.

But, I really would recommend taking classes unless you seem to have a natural talent... there are thousands of unemployed actors out there... you have to stand out to rise above the rest of them.

first of all be sure of urself... take acting classes...be sure tht this is what u want to do. there is no lack of work in this line. but be ready for it. you also have to take vocal classes/dance/dramatic arts etc.... when you think ur ready ..i think u should start by medelling(for an exposure) and then only step into acting ..... remember it is very important to have an image in the soceity so you should try modelling first.. have some contacts si tht u dont flop as an actor! good luck! xx

Before that concentrate on your looks; grooming is very important. gone are those days of middle aged heroes with big paunches trying to pass for college students. You really have to be very fit and should have a good and toned body....Also must be willing to expose it.... If you take care of this,, half the battle is won....then start your own search..through newspapers, magazines....if you have the habit of watching TV serials, may be you can approach them or start with some modelling....best of luck...

Start out by finding a local theater that has live plays and auditions. We have a couple of them. You memorize a monologue and audition.
