Well, sextuplets would be a high risk delivery and would require a high-risk OB for prenatal care and delivery. With sextuplets a vaginal birth would probably not happen (though it would probably be possible). They would also probably arive around 30 weeks gestation, or earlier, probably not later (or not much later). A normal pregnancy lasts about 40-41 weeks on average. So you have to add in NICU costs as well, which are extremely high. Probably about 8 weeks of NICU per baby.
So you're looking at:
*High risk prenatal appointments every week from the time sextuplets are diagnosed
*Possible hospital stay bed rest period after about 22 weeks until delivery (depending on the mom's health)
*C-section delivery under spinal or general anestesia depending on how much of an emergency the delivery is
*NICU stay for all 6 babies
*Recovery for mom (2 days to a week for a c-section)
*Breast pump rental/lactation consultant for mom
*Possibly surgery for several of the babies due to complications from being preterm
Keeping these things in mind, you would probably want to contact a hospital with a level 3 NICU and ask how much the average stay for a baby in NICU costs.
You also should keep in mind that most mothers have some sort of insurance to pay for the majority of the birth, and hte out of pocket cost is usually minimal for most births.
My own hospital birth cost around $5000 for an uncomplicated, unmedicated delivery and one night hospital stay.
My home birth cost around $3000 including all prenatals.
I had to pay a copay with the hospital birth of $200, I paid nothing for the homebirth other than the purchase of homebirth supplies and rental of a birthing tub.

Prenatal care can run around $600 per baby. The total cost for me for the actually vaginal delivery and post-care was $8,000. Someone having a baby is billed by many different sources. If someone has a baby in a hospital then the actually delivery and hospital stay can have charges from the following sources: the OB, the hospital (delivery room, surgical room possibly, nursery), the pediatrician, etc. This does not include the $ spent at the OB before delivery or the ongoing bills to the pedi.

Depends on the way the doctor and hospital set it up, how smoothly the delivery goes (any complications), what meds she has during delivery, etc. Some doctors include the cost of their services in your prenatal care package, others add it on separately at the end with the hospital bill. Call your local welfare office (social services) and they should be able to direct you to a program that can help. I live in CA, and we have Medi-cal for those who qualify. I never paid a cent with either of my two children's births. (They were uncomplicated). Your best bet to make sure that there are as few complications as possible is to make sure to get good prenatal care. The average cost here for an uncomplicated delivery ranges from $2500- $4000, including all the prenatal care. Hospitals can charge separately, so make sure to ask what their charges are. Good luck!

It depends on if you have a natural delivery or C-section, the city of your delivery, and the length of your stay. You could call your hospital or OB and they may be able to give you an estimate, but do not hold them to that amount it is just an estimate. I was in the hospital for 5 days, and just my room was $8,000. Most of which ins covered. Then you have to pay your OB, and the pediatrician who checks the baby at birth, and depending on how many boys you have circumcision, if you believe in that. But if you are having sextuplets you will have many expenses unless covered by Medicaid or if you can get help from Oprah, she likes to help in cases like this. At least this would be a funny answer for your project. Good luck.

The cost of delivering a new baby can range from $5,000 to $8,000 for a vaginal delivery to more than $12,000 for a cesarean delivery. If there are complications, those costs can increase dramatically.

Well, in Ontario it's $0. I paid nothing for the epidural, nothing for the supplies provided in the hospital. I would have had to pay $20 for a private room, but my husbands health benefits through work covered that.

First off you should probably go with a mid wife or a doula because they are way cheaper . I had both of my kids with a midwife and a water birth and it cost me about 2500 less then it would have in a hopital
