You are in the exact same situation that I am in right now.
I have a Sony VIO that I bought 3 years ago. At present I have it downstairs in extention, I have it connected up to my BT hub via an ethernet cable. Today I picked up my new wireless laptop which will not need any cables as my hub is wireless. My Sony Vio, I am giving it to my youngest son as he has done so well at school and work experience, he is in for a hell of a shock as he is getting the lot, PC, New photo printer, computer desk which cost me £100 3 years ago, disks the lot and my dearly beloved swirvle chair that was part of my birthday present this year, the whole lot cost around £1500. but I am so proud of him.
Well me rabbiting on, I haven't finished answering your question, I apologise. You need the same as me as long as your router is wireless, if it is, all you need is a wireless link that you plug into your USB2 port, it has a little areal in it, It makes your pc talk to your router/modem/hub whatever you want to call it.
If your router is not wireless then you will have to get one, but as you say that you are on AOL gold, I am sure you should have a wireless router.

You need an adsl router but choose carefully as not all work with AOL.I believe Linksys does but check with AOL (who may try to sell you an appropriate wireless adsl router). If you are prepared to share part of your connection you can get a router very cheap
