It's a good idea actually.
Canadians are good people.
BUT, Canadians have a legacy of good social welfare services. They wouldn't trade their system for ours! They are very proud of it.

My Mom is Canadian and I live in the U.S. with my Dad who is an American. I was born in Arizona and have dual citizenship. Truth is I think the U.S. would love to combine with Canada for many reasons, but I don't see very many Canadians who feel that way about the U.S. In fact many Countries prefer to put us down now. It's getting ugly around the world. I truly fear that the U.S. will soon be looked at as the new 'Greed Empire' by the world at large. The future isn't so bright for the U.S. if we don't change and I really kind of doubt we will change much! Canada has a tremendous amount of resources as well and would not be willing to share cheaply with a Country that has continually leaned on them for economic advantages.

Canada and the US, from a cultural and economic perspective, are essentially a single unit already. It is a situation much like Western Europe. There is no advantage to be gained by merging the two nations into a single one.

No. First we have to do something about the rift between N. Americans. This country is almost as divided as it was before the civil war.

Last time I checked Canadians didn't think torture and warrantless invasions were ok.
...oh and they are not in favor of illegal immigration...like to see 12 million Mexicans trying to get Quebec to put everything in Spanish...

I don't think the Canadians will love it. Half of them would rather be France and the other are happy to be Canadians.

What the hell would we want w/ Canada? If the U.S. wanted to become one country with Canada, we'd invade.
