That is, are good deeds more important than good luck? Why or why not?

I feel it's more important to be a good person because it leads to fewer regrets over a lifetime. It's good to follow your own convictions and stand up for them, even if it makes things hard for you--a man or woman without personal integrity is to be pitied.

I agree completely with Malcolm X's observation, "If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything."

Good luck is such a fleeting thing--it can't be depended upon. But if an individual follows what is right, he or she can be better prepared to deal with the tough times that come to all of us.

You will get satisfaction from 'good things happening to you' but you have no control over this.
You can only control whether you are a 'good person and do the right thing' or not. Therefore that is definitely more important!
All great religions and most philosophical systems all agree to this tenet.
The Machiavellian philosophy is the only one I know that does not.

Good deeds are more important. Otherwise there wouldn't be much good luck generated.

I am 36 and I can tell you from experience that you reap what you sow. For all the bad things I have done, I have had horrible things happen. And for the good, Good things have happened. It is a give and take thing. I have seen this in the lives of others to.

Yes good deeds are more important. Good luck is fine...but good deeds toward others balance us out so we don't become narcissistic.

The two kind of go hand in hand.
Being a good person means do the right thing, that will bring good results into your life.

I believe that eventually what goes around comes around. I think it's better to be a good person. Even though bad things happen to good people I think we all owe it ourselves to be the best we can be.

lt's better to be a good person. You know, being polite, kind and respectful and generous. If you are that good, good things will happen to you. That is the law of karma.
