Iran's KOCHULGA antenna device passively detects stealth planes 800 Km away, making the billions of Dollars spent on stealth technology and the AWACS planes (600km detection range) utterly useless. In addition, being passive, it cannot be detected, so the targeted plane(s) are unaware of detection and have nothing to home in to destroy the equipment made by Ukraine....

The Ukrainian scientific, engineering, and design solutions in the field of passive radiolocation, embodied in the Kolchuga complex, are what is eating U.S. designers and government functionaries, who are responsible for stealth technologies in modern armaments. Such technologies are meant to fulfill every general’s dream: to make his aircraft, ships, tanks, and other hardware invisible to enemies. The geometrical shape may be changed (like in the F-117 or B-2) to disperse a reflected signal from active radars, or there may be various wave-absorbing coatings to transform active signals into heat energy. But no modern military aircraft, tank, or ship can exist without its own radar. Without a radiating aerial it is simply “blind”. That is why every aircraft, ship, and ground-based radar complex has active radiolocation devices. These devices are always on, emitting radio signals. Each specific type of hardware emits signals within different parameters. Consequently, a machine on which an emitting radar is mounted can be identified.

America isn't likely to attack Iran. We don't hate Iranians, we just don't trust them to use nuclear power peacefully, given Iranian hatred of Israel. An attack on Iran would start a war that we don't need, and are not capable of fighting effectively. We can bomb the snot out of Iran, but it would be impossible for us to even try to pick up the pieces, like we're doing in Iraq.

As to Israel attacking Iran, they don't need that war either, but they trust the Iranians less than the Americans do. They'll still likely bomb any Iranian nuclear facilities that are found producing nuclear weapons by the IAEA.

The technology you've addressed here is interesting. I'd be interested to see how it works, and how effective it has been in defeating stealth technology. Gotta always remember though, that radars are only one half of air defense. Your missile has got to be able to take out the plane. If the plane flies too high, or too fast, or is very good with it's countermeasures, you'll still have problems. That also doesn't take into account missiles.

No. First strikes are done by cruise missile anyway, followed by helos with special forces. Even if the enemy can locate these aircraft in a general sense, they lack the targeting capabilty of powered radio-location.

The stealth technology is not utterly useless; it makes our planes safer for our pilots. We have moved on, too, however; more armaments are mounted on small, pilotless aircraft (drones) which are just plain hard to detect and by the time you do see them, it's too late.
All military technology fades someday; how useful are the cannons used in the civil war era? But it wasn't a waste, it simply had its era and now it's over. Stealth technology is still useful.

That's silly. Such a system could easily be defeated by turning off your radiating systems until they are needed. Ever hear of inertial guidance?

Also, passive systems have to be large enough to capture those TINY emissisions. And big systems are easy to see. Don't be so paranoid. Iran will get theirs when the time comes, and not before.

This question should be in the military section.

We, as americans, shouldn't take Stealth for granted. Eventually someone will find a way to see it! Sad, but true.
