You wouldn't be reading this, for one thing.
What other incredible things are there out there that we have yet to discover?
What might they be (let you mind wander)?

A world powered by microbes. Tiny little germs that breed down the wires to carry high speed connections. Bleach would be banned or used by terrorists to interrupt society. The dominant company would be Microbe Soft.
Magnets used to provide light at night, power the washer dryers and cook meals. People would have better teeth because they wouldn't be allowed fillings.
More people employed to do manual labour, more poverty as mass produced goods just ain't what they used to be. I like the idea of more cottages. Far to many of them have been shut down by local authorities. (Tea Rooms if your American).

Water and wind power, steam power. A few fossil-fuel engines for those who want the bother: hand-cranked or started as some diesels are now, using stored compressed air. Non-diesel types may be possible with ignition provided by glow-plugs or flintlock style sparkers or timed exposure to an external flame. Lots of drive shafts, gearboxes, pulley/belt arrangements and hydraulics for distributing centrally generated power. Improved ways of making flame-based light: e.g., intense heat on bright mantles. Speaking tubes to communicate locally, long-distance communication via low-frequency sound (e.g., drums) and light beams. Use of hydraulic servos, amplifiers, logic, etc. No broadcasting; every house connected by hydraulic piping to central communications. Ingenious player pianos and other mechanical music makers able to record/playback individual interpretations. Sophisticated mechanical calculators.

All cars would be Diesels, for one. No phone, no tv... we'd be using Coleman or Tilly gaslights. There would be more musicians around because recordings would be limited to gramophone technology. In fact, there would be far more cottage industries set up. Major industry wouldn't exist, at least to the degree we see it today. Steam would be a big part of the industrial base.

Families would be closer because they wouldn't have all the distractions that electricity brings.....computer, TV, etc. We would be living like they did when there was no electricity...back in the 1800's.
